Hi guys, just want some advice or guidance please.

Will it be better for me to stable my yearling colt with other yearling colt with his age group or will he be fine in a herd of other older geldings.

At the moment he is kept with older mares and 1 yearling filly, but want to move him and I have options but seems my mind does not know.

The one yard has got other colts and good grazing (as he is going to live out)

But the other yard has only got geldings more quiet excellent grazing but he will be kept in a herd with older THB

If nothing goes right then go left

The best is with older horses as he will then learn manners and correct herd behaviour. Generally most studs put at least one older gelding or mare in with their yearling herds as otherwise they can become very rude and pushy since there are no older horses to teach them manners and pecking order
